This was another piece that I freelanced for the Novi News in Fall 2015. The editor, Phil Allmen, and I, have a wonderful working relationship. I was honored to be able to freelance for him and I would do so again in a heartbeat.
This was a piece did on a Japanese Family Services (JFS), a business dedicated to helping Japanese people relocate to life in America. Novi tends to be a hub of Japanese people who have moved to Detroit to work for the automotive industry, so it made sense for a business like this to exist here. I myself have worked with these people before at my church, St. Matthew Lutheran, and am interested in Asian culture, so it was very interesting for me to report on this local business.
This story was not published in print, only online. Photos were taken by John Heider, staff photographer for the Novi News.
