In October 2011, I wrote a letter to The Oakland Post suggesting they feature a Sudoku puzzle along with the crossword. I myself greatly enjoy Sudoku puzzles, even more than crosswords, so I confess a small selfish motive behind my writing. However, I thought it would be a huge improvement over the grossly oversized crossword puzzle that took up their entire back page the previous week, as well as add something else for readers to do.

To my surprise, my letter was featured in the Post the following week, and Sudoku puzzles have graced the pages of the Post ever since. So, guess what? Putting Sudoku in The Oakland Post was my idea. You’re welcome.
